A roadmap for your nationality

Turkish citizenship by investment for Nigerian entrepreneurs and families

The trade route between Lagos and Istanbul is one many Nigerian businesspeople already know well. From textiles and furniture to building materials and machinery, countless goods travel from Istanbul to Nigeria. You can turn that business link into a lasting advantage for your family: apply for Turkish citizenship with a USD 400,000 property purchase or a USD 500,000 investment in funds, a bank deposit or government bonds.

Why Türkiye for Nigerian investors

Direct flights from Lagos and Abuja

Direct flights connect major Nigerian cities such as Lagos and Abuja with Istanbul. From Istanbul Airport you can easily reach many cities across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Business trips and family visits run through one hub, making travel more organised and less tiring.

Where trade meets

Istanbul's wholesale districts, exhibition centres and manufacturing hubs have long been familiar to Nigerian buyers. As a Turkish citizen you can meet suppliers in person whenever you like, and set up your own company in Türkiye to open your business to new markets.

English-language education options

Istanbul and Ankara have international schools teaching in English and many universities offering English-taught programmes. For English-speaking Nigerian families, this means children can continue their education without switching languages. Your spouse and children under 18 can be included in the same file.

A city open to every faith

In Istanbul, historic mosques and churches have stood side by side for centuries. People of different faiths and cultures share the city's everyday life. Families from Nigeria's diverse society feel at home in a cosmopolitan city where they can live their own faith with ease.

Two investment routes to Turkish citizenship

Real estate: USD 400,000

Buy property worth at least USD 400,000 and keep it for 3 years. You can use it as a home for your family or rent it out.

Fund, deposit or bonds: USD 500,000

Invest USD 500,000 in eligible real estate or venture capital funds, a deposit at a bank in Türkiye or government bonds, and keep the investment for 3 years.

The process for Nigerian applicants

  1. A first call in your language: goals, route (property or fund), budget and family composition.

  2. Document preparation at home: legalisation and translation.

  3. Bank account in Türkiye and traceable transfer of the investment amount.

  4. Investment execution: property purchase with valuation and title deed, or fund unit purchase with MKK blockage.

  5. Conformity certificate, investor residence permit and the citizenship application.

  6. Decision and passport issuance; family members included in the same file.

Practical notes for Nigerian applicants

Nigeria uses consular legalisation for official documents: the issuing authority, the Nigeria ministry of foreign affairs and then the Turkish consulate. Our investor relations team coordinates these steps with you.

The investment is sent from Nigeria by traceable bank transfer to your account in Türkiye. Keep the bank records and the exchange certificate, because they are part of the application file.

Nigeria allows its citizens to hold another citizenship alongside their own.

Documents typically requested

  • Valid passport for each applicant
  • Birth certificates and, for spouses, the marriage certificate
  • Police clearance certificate for the main applicant and spouse
  • Biometric photographs
  • Proof of the investment (title deed and valuation, or fund conformity certificate)
  • Bank records showing the foreign exchange transfer and the exchange certificate
  • Health insurance for the residence permit stage

Frequently asked

Can I set up a company in Türkiye as a Turkish citizen?

Yes. Once you hold Turkish citizenship, you can set up a company, open bank accounts and run a business in Türkiye like any other citizen. Working with your Istanbul suppliers and reaching new markets becomes far more practical.

Can I add my family to the same application?

Yes. Your spouse and children under 18 are placed in the same file as the main application. The investment is made once, and each family member's passport, birth and marriage documents are prepared in order with our team.

When can I sell my investment?

The holding period is 3 years for property and for fund, deposit or bond investments; after that you are free to sell. Meanwhile you may rent the property out and earn income. After 3 years, selling or keeping it is your decision.

How are documents from Nigeria legalised for a Turkish application?

By consular legalisation: documents from Nigeria are legalised through the consulate.
