Why Türkiye for Kenyan investors
A direct link from Nairobi
Direct flights connect Nairobi and Istanbul. From Istanbul Airport a single connection takes you to many cities across Europe, North America and Asia, which makes Istanbul a practical and dependable hub for both business and family travel.
A strong base for exporters
For Kenyan entrepreneurs in tea, coffee, flowers, agriculture or logistics, Istanbul is a trading hub close to buyers in Europe and the Middle East. As a Turkish citizen, setting up a company and managing banking relationships here becomes much simpler.
English-taught study options
Many Turkish universities offer English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes, and the big cities have international schools. As Turkish citizens, your children can apply as domestic students and continue their studies comfortably in a language they already know.
Cities open to every faith
In Istanbul, historic mosques, churches and synagogues have stood side by side for centuries. Whether Muslim or Christian, every Kenyan family can build a new life in a welcoming city where different cultures live together and faith is lived freely.
Two investment routes to Turkish citizenship
Real estate: USD 400,000
Buy property worth at least USD 400,000 and keep it for 3 years. You can use it as a home for your family or rent it out.
Fund, deposit or bonds: USD 500,000
Invest USD 500,000 in eligible real estate or venture capital funds, a deposit at a bank in Türkiye or government bonds, and keep the investment for 3 years.
The process for Kenyan applicants
A first call in your language: goals, route (property or fund), budget and family composition.
Document preparation at home: legalisation and translation.
Bank account in Türkiye and traceable transfer of the investment amount.
Investment execution: property purchase with valuation and title deed, or fund unit purchase with MKK blockage.
Conformity certificate, investor residence permit and the citizenship application.
Decision and passport issuance; family members included in the same file.
Practical notes for Kenyan applicants
Kenya uses consular legalisation for official documents: the issuing authority, the Kenya ministry of foreign affairs and then the Turkish consulate. Our investor relations team coordinates these steps with you.
The investment is sent from Kenya by traceable bank transfer to your account in Türkiye. Keep the bank records and the exchange certificate, because they are part of the application file.
Kenya allows its citizens to hold another citizenship alongside their own.
Documents typically requested
- Valid passport for each applicant
- Birth certificates and, for spouses, the marriage certificate
- Police clearance certificate for the main applicant and spouse
- Biometric photographs
- Proof of the investment (title deed and valuation, or fund conformity certificate)
- Bank records showing the foreign exchange transfer and the exchange certificate
- Health insurance for the residence permit stage
Frequently asked
Can I start the process from Nairobi?
Yes. We hold the first meeting online, list the required documents together and begin preparations while you are still in Nairobi. You only travel to Türkiye for the necessary stages, at a time that suits you.
Can my children study in English?
Yes. Türkiye has many schools and universities that teach in English. Your children under 18 can become Turkish citizens in the same file and apply to these institutions as Turkish students.
Once 3 years pass, what are my options?
Once the 3-year holding period ends, the investment is entirely yours. You can sell the property, keep renting it out or pass it on to your family. On the fund, deposit or bond route, you decide freely what to do next.
How are documents from Kenya legalised for a Turkish application?
By consular legalisation: documents from Kenya are legalised through the consulate.
