A roadmap for your nationality

Turkish citizenship for Egyptian investors: a second home across the Mediterranean

From the Ottoman mosques of Cairo to the historic bazaars of Istanbul, the stories of Egypt and Türkiye have been woven together for centuries. A second home on the same sea opens new doors for your family. Turkish citizenship is reached in one of two ways: property worth USD 400,000, or USD 500,000 placed in funds, deposits or state bonds. Our investor relations team is with you throughout.

Why Türkiye for Egyptian investors

Shared history, familiar cities

The Ottoman-style mosques rising over Cairo's skyline still tell the story of a shared past. Walking through Istanbul's old streets, domes and bazaars, many Egyptian families feel they are in a familiar city rather than somewhere far away.

A short flight from Cairo

There are daily direct flights between Cairo and Istanbul, and the trip takes only a few hours. You can come for a weekend to look after your home and your affairs, then be back with your family without a tiring journey.

A lively community in Istanbul

Istanbul has a vibrant Egyptian community that has lived, worked and raised children there for years. With Arabic-speaking doctors, restaurants and schools close by, adjusting to your new life is easier and more enjoyable than you might expect.

A bridge between Africa and Europe

Türkiye is an important crossing point for trade between Africa and Europe. If you are active in trade, food or construction in Egypt, Turkish citizenship lets you open a company in Istanbul and reach European markets far more easily.

Two investment routes to Turkish citizenship

Real estate: USD 400,000

Buy property worth at least USD 400,000 and keep it for 3 years. You can use it as a home for your family or rent it out.

Fund, deposit or bonds: USD 500,000

Invest USD 500,000 in eligible real estate or venture capital funds, a deposit at a bank in Türkiye or government bonds, and keep the investment for 3 years.

Not sure which route fits you? Start your personal roadmap with the form on this page; our investor relations team will go through both routes with you.

The process for Egyptian applicants

  1. A first call in your language: goals, route (property or fund), budget and family composition.

  2. Document preparation at home: legalisation and translation.

  3. Bank account in Türkiye and traceable transfer of the investment amount.

  4. Investment execution: property purchase with valuation and title deed, or fund unit purchase with MKK blockage.

  5. Conformity certificate, investor residence permit and the citizenship application.

  6. Decision and passport issuance; family members included in the same file.

Practical notes for Egyptian applicants

Egypt uses consular legalisation for official documents: the issuing authority, the Egypt ministry of foreign affairs and then the Turkish consulate. Our investor relations team coordinates these steps with you.

The investment is sent from Egypt by traceable bank transfer to your account in Türkiye. Keep the bank records and the exchange certificate, because they are part of the application file.

Egypt has its own rules on holding another citizenship. Our investor relations team goes through them with you before you apply, so your plan fits both countries.

Documents typically requested

  • Valid passport for each applicant
  • Birth certificates and, for spouses, the marriage certificate
  • Police clearance certificate for the main applicant and spouse
  • Biometric photographs
  • Proof of the investment (title deed and valuation, or fund conformity certificate)
  • Bank records showing the foreign exchange transfer and the exchange certificate
  • Health insurance for the residence permit stage

Frequently asked

What if I prefer not to buy property?

That is fine. Instead of property, you can apply by investing USD 500,000 in an eligible investment fund, a deposit at a Turkish bank or government bonds. We look at which route suits you best together.

After how long may I sell?

You can sell after holding the investment for 3 years. During that time you may use the property yourself or rent it out. After that, selling, keeping it or passing it on to your family is entirely up to you.

Are my wife and children included?

Yes. Your spouse and children under 18 can join the same application. With one investment we start the citizenship process for your whole family and bring all of your documents together in a single file.

How are documents from Egypt legalised for a Turkish application?

By consular legalisation: documents from Egypt are legalised through the consulate.
