Your fund information file: what to collect before you invest

Illustration

Short answer

Collect four things before you invest: the fund’s identity, its rulebooks, your qualified-investor assessment, and the MKK and SPK papers for the citizenship blockage. Your personal documents for the citizenship application are a different list. You will find that list in the citizenship documents checklist.

1. The fund’s identity

Write down the fund’s full legal name. Note its type (GYF or GSYF), its term and the company that manages it. Not sure about the types? Read GYF or GSYF explained simply.

Check that every paper names the same fund. Note the date on each one.

2. The fund’s rulebooks

Internal rules (içtüzük): the fund’s basic rules.

Issuance document (ihraç belgesi): the document that describes the units on offer.

SPK refers to these two documents for payouts, unit repayments and the fund’s end. From them, note the strategy, the valuation method, the charges and the redemption terms.

3. Your investor status

These funds are sold to qualified investors. Keep the authorised institution’s written assessment of your status in your file.

4. Papers for the citizenship blockage

Proof that your currency was sold to a bank in Türkiye before the purchase.

Your MKK registry number and your fund investment details.

The document showing your units are in the MKK citizenship blockage sub-account.

A passport copy and your contact details for the SPK application.

When SPK issues your conformity certificate, keep a copy with this file. For the wider picture, see our fund investment route and the programme overview.
